Preservation of fruit quality as well as optimization of the logistics chain with reusable and recyclable IFCO crates.
SIIM will now offer its European customers the conditioning in IFCO cases of Extra Sweet Terrasol pineapples directly from the Group's productio units in Ecuador.
SIIM, with this development in the packaging of its pineapples, pursues 2 objectives: better preservation of the quality of its pineapples until they are transported to Europe as well as an optimization of the logistics chain, in particular in the new packaging platform of the Group in Rungis, where a cold room has been specifically designed, fitted with unit heaters and air guidance systems, so that the pineapples retain all their freshnenss and taste quality for the consumer.
"The packaging of our pineapples in reusable and recyclable IFCO crates, both recognized for their strenght and their optimal vantilation, is a crucial element in improving the sypply chain to guarantee the best preservation of the quality of our pineapples. Using sustainable transport packaging IFCO also fully meets our CSR and environmental commitments", says Vincent Omer-Decugis, CEO of SIIM.
Sustainable transport packaging due to their reuse and recyclability, IFCO containers help to protect bananas and pineapples against crushing during transport. "We are very happy to put our reusable and recyclable bins at the service of a more reliable and sustainable supply chain for these 2 sensitive products: bananas and pineapples" indicates Pierre-Oliviver Blanchard, Managing Director of IFCO France.
