According to the latest estimates, apricot production in 2024 is estimated to be -28% down on 2023 and -13% down on the average for the 2019-2023 harvests.
A publication by Agreste Conjoncture, an agency of the French Ministry of Agriculture, announces that apricot production in France, based on data as at 1 May 2024, is estimated at 92,200 tonnes.
There are several reasons for this drop: the phenomenon of alternation after the abundant production in 2023 for certain varieties, unmet cold needs during the winter and a fall in flowers and fruit as a result of rain at flowering time.
The harvest will be around 1 to 2 weeks earlier than in 2023.
