Peru’s advantage is expected to strengthen further with the new Chancay port, which will open direct shipping routes to Asia.
Peru’s fresh grape exports are expected to exceed US$1.9 billion in 2025, confirming the country’s position as the world’s leading producer and exporter of table grapes, according to the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (Midagri). Export volume for the 2024/2025 campaign is estimated at around 760,000 tonnes, with an average price of US$3.27/kg.
National grape production has grown sharply over the past decade, rising from 597,900 tonnes in 2015 to a projected 1.09 million tonnes in 2025 (+82.5%). Peru’s success is supported by more than 40 commercial varieties, especially Sweet Globe, Crimson Seedless, and Arra 15, which are in strong demand in markets such as the United States, China, Mexico, the UK, South Korea, and the EU.
Most of Peru’s exports are seedless grapes (75%), and the country benefits from seasonal windows that align with global demand, with harvests concentrated in Ica, Lima, Arequipa, and Ancash (Jan–Apr) and Piura, Lambayeque, and La Libertad (Oct–Dec).
Peru’s advantage is expected to strengthen further with the new Chancay port, which will open direct shipping routes to Asia, reduce transit times, cut freight costs, and improve logistics efficiency.
