Spanish exports in 2026 rise 10% in value

Spanish exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from January through May 2026 totaled 5.5 million metric tons, representing a slight decrease of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2025. However, the value of exports grew by 7%, reaching 10,106 million euros, according to data from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes released yesterday and processed by FEPEX.

1% Decline in Vegetable Volume

In the first five months of the year, there was a slight decline in the volume of both vegetables and fruits exported. Vegetable exports totaled 2.9 million metric tons, down 1% from the same period last year. Among the main exported products, lettuce stood out with 453,039 metric tons (+3%), followed by bell peppers with 415,037 metric tons, the same volume as the previous year, cucumbers, at 363,742 metric tons (+1%), and tomatoes, at 346,622 metric tons (-3%).

Fewer Citrus Fruits, More Berries

Exports of fresh fruit totaled 2.6 million metric tons, a 2% decrease compared to January–May 2025. The main exported products were oranges, at 734,904 metric tons, although they recorded a 10% decline; mandarins, at 486,470 metric tons (-7%); lemons, at 323,868 metric tons (+2%); and strawberries, at 250,323 metric tons (+3%).
