Met in Fruit Attraction, Madrid, Mr. Piotr MAIK, Purchasing Director explains for Fructidor.com readers:
“CONSORFRUT POLSKA is growing rapidly as we have invested a lot in modern facilities. Our facilities in Krakow and Warsaw are re-packing fresh produce according to our customers’ needs. In Krakow we have 8.000m² of cold stores that can stock the volume of 48 trucks. Our distribution center of Krakow is very modern and was opened in December 2011. It’s a great tool to serve our customers, both supermarkets and traditional market which is very important for us. Our sales are well equilibrated with 50% made with traditional resellers and 50% with supermarkets. Our strength is to have more opportunities to allocate the goods to offer more stability for us and for our suppliers.”
“Other competitors are losing volumes; it gives us the opportunity to gain market-shares. In spite of our strong development, the market gets tougher and tougher. We must move more volumes with fewer margins.”
“We are just launching in November, a brand new bananas ripening facility in Krakow, with 24 ripening chambers and extra 8 rooms in our central warehouse. This will enable us to double our bananas sales from different origins: Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Columbia… We used to do 30 to 35 containers per week; our objective is to do 45-55 containers/week.”
“In fruit & vegetables segment, we plan to do much more too in order to take maximum benefits of our modern facilities. We are also intensifying and developing our direct import from overseas, especially from Central and South America, which has always been our strong point and is getting even bigger in volume and diversity every year, to supply our clients with best range and quality. You should hear more and more from CONSORFRUT in the following months!”
