Japan removes customs duties for Australian citrus

Great news for the citrus industry in Australia: Japan will remove customs duties that were applied for 15 years.
New Australia-Japan economic agreement on customs duties.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe announced this new economic agreement. Japan will gradually remove customs duties on Australian citrus that were in effect for 15 years.
Customs duties on oranges reached 16%, tangerines 17%, grapefruits 10%.
Australian producers are pleased with this new agreement. Japan is the largest market for Australian citrus, with a turnover estimated at 40 million in 2013.
