Top 50 global retailers list

The US Retailers Federation gave a fresh look at the 50 most impactful international retailers based on their operations at the start of 2025.
Kantar partnered with NRF to produce this ranking of the Top 50 Global Retailers. Walmart Amazon and Lidl are clearly on the top. Kantar’s ranking methodology uses a system in which points are given to retailers based on their domestic and international retail revenues. To qualify for the rankings, retailers need to have a direct investment in at least three countries.
US power players with grocery
The US Retailers Federation (NRF) also ranks annually the 100 largest retail companies according to U.S. retail sales. Among this “Top 100 Retailers list”, NRF selects “power players” with food retailing, when they’ve had U.S. sales equal to or greater than 10% of the sales of the category leader Walmart. The Kroger, which ranks number 4 in the Top100 US retail ranking, takes the top spot in the grocery category; other “power players” with food retailing include Albertsons Companies (No. 10), Publix Super Markets (No. 12), Royal Ahold Delhaize USA (No. 13), Aldi (No. 14) and H.E. Butt Grocery (No. 16).
