RBR Trading should reach 6000 tons of melon export in 2010

RBR Trading Company is a many years' result of experience on fruit and vegetables sector in Brazil.

Besides the long journey to reach consumer and logistic deficiencies in a country which did not adapt itself to the growth, RBR trading saw the possibility of increasing its activity.

The company exports its fruits in big supermarket chains in Europe such as Carrefour and Casino in France, Lidl and Aldi in Germany, Eurospin in Italy and ICA in Sweden... "We saw our business growing in volume in the export. In 2008, we sold 800 tons of melons in Europe; in 2010, it will be 6000 tons "explains Roland Brandes, RBR Trading Director.

RBR Trading was created in 2006, in Santa Catarina for apples export. Since 2009, the melon “Agropecuaria Canaan” is sold in Brazilian supermarkets.

While crisis of 2008 slowed down the growth of certain sectors, exports of RBR Trading underwent no impact.

In 2008, 800 tons of melons were sent towards Europe; in 2009, 3000 tons and 2010 should reach 6000 tons. On this total, watermelons generally represent a third of the shipments.
