For the whole of 2021 Cambodia had exported 7.9 million tonnes of agricultural products, for the first 4 months of 2022 the exported volume has already reached 4 million tonnes.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the total volume of agricultural products exported during the first 4 months of the year (January 1 to April 26) is 4,040,704.69 tonnes, i.e. +5 .60% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The ministry said exports of rice and cassava products have seen a significant increase. But that exports of fresh bananas and mangoes have decreased, particularly to China, which has imposed strict sanitary measures and closed access to certain ports.
As a replacement for the Chinese market, Cambodian professionals have tried to export mangoes to Thailand and Vietnam. But opening new trade routes takes time and the mango season in the country is coming to an end, exports will only be able to resume in the 4th quarter.
In 2021, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Cambodia exported a total of 7,984,252 tons of agricultural products to 68 countries and territories, or +63.83% compared to 2020.
