Decrease strawberries surfaces in Huelva
FJ
For the 2015-16 campaign the surfaces of plantations decreased.
FRESHUELVA , gathering data from its members, has established that strawberries plantations are totaling 5860 hectares. A decrease of 8.7 % from 2014-15 where plantations totaled 6400 hectares.
According to FRESHUELVA this decline results from crop diversification that began in the region. In wanting to better meet the demand of European consumers , producers are turning to other red fruits .Thus planted acreage increased in 9658 hectares for other berries ( 9460 hectares last year) . Raspberries will total 1815 hectares ( 1560 last year) , blackberries 130 hectares (90 last year) , blueberries 1953 hectares ( 1470 last year) .
