New inspection points to enhance citrus production security in Michoacán
VU
Due to the continuous health risks associated with the international and national movement of agricultural products, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Michoacán enhanced phytosanitary security for citrus production by introducing two new internal inspection and verification points (IVP) in Apatzingán and Buenavista. As of now, Michoacán operates 15 internal inspection and verification points.
During the recently held Financing Fair in Apatzingán, Secretary Ramírez Romero acknowledged the efficient and prompt actions of the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) and Senasica, the authorities responsible for authorizing the operation of internal inspection and verification points.
Aligned with the Comprehensive and Strategic Agronomic Plan for the National Citrus Sector, the strategy aims to ensure phytosanitary security for all of Mexico's citrus production. The focus includes advancing nursery certifications, facilitating the operation of the Apatzingán Local Plant Health Board, and distributing phytosanitary certificates. These measures collectively strengthen the traceability of citrus, particularly the Mexican lime, where Michoacán holds a national leadership position in production.
