Japan has been a key partner for Brazil's agricultural exports, being the fourth most important destination in 2023.
Japan authorized the import of Hass avocados from Brazil, which represents an important opportunity for the growth of the South American country's agribusiness, according to Latin American media. This agreement will allow Brazil to expand its supply of agricultural products and access one of the most rigorous markets in the world in terms of quality and food safety.
Japan has been a key partner for Brazil's agricultural exports, being the fourth most important destination in 2023, with a total of US$4.1 billion in exported products. In the first seven months of 2024, Brazilian agricultural sales to Japan reached $1.71 billion. Within the fruit sector, exports totaled US$3.29 million during this same period.
The opening of the Japanese market for Hass avocados is the 104th that Brazil has achieved in 2024, contributing to a total of 182 new market accesses in 58 countries since the beginning of 2023. This progress is the result of coordinated work between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), which have worked closely together to expand the country's trade opportunities abroad.
