Belizean citrus exports recover in Q1 despite April decline
VU
April 2025 brought a blend of losses and gains for Belize.
Belize’s fresh produce exports saw mixed results in April 2025. Banana revenue dropped from $9.2 million in April 2024 to $7.8 million this year. Citrus exports also declined, falling from $1.9 million to $1.3 million, according to local media.
Red kidney beans showed the strongest growth among plant-based products, rising from $0.5 million to $1.7 million. This made beans one of the few bright spots in the category for the month.
Looking at the first four months of 2025, citrus exports showed a positive trend overall — growing from $4.4 million in 2024 to $8.1 million, an increase of $3.8 million. The strong performance was driven by higher international demand.
