Thailand used one of China’s key imported fruit hubs to promote its new-season durian and tropical fruit offer.
Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion held a Thai fruit promotion at Guangzhou’s Jiangnan fruit and vegetable wholesale market, highlighting durian and other tropical fruit as the country moves through its second export wave of the season.
The event, organised by DITP’s trade office in Guangzhou under the theme Thailand, The Land of Tropical Fruits, was aimed at strengthening confidence in Thai fruit quality, safety and supply standards among Chinese trade buyers and consumers.
The promotion featured a container-opening ceremony for Thai durian, with southern Thai durian presented as the main product. Other fruit on display included Sisaket durian, mangosteen, rambutan and Nam Hom coconut.
Importers, wholesalers, retailers, media representatives, influencers and fruit specialists from Thailand and China attended the event. DITP said the activity was designed to support cooperation between public and private partners and expand trade opportunities for Thai fruit in China.
Participants also visited Jiangnan market’s imported fruit zone and live commerce centre, where they reviewed digital sales tools, livestreaming formats and consumer data management. The visit reflected the growing role of online channels alongside traditional wholesale distribution in China’s fruit trade.
DITP described China as a strategic market for Thai fruit and said the campaign forms part of Thailand’s broader effort to build demand, improve brand visibility and reinforce trust in Thai tropical fruit during the peak export period.
