More than $7 billion spent in the United States on St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day is celebrated on 17 March. This festival of Irish origin is celebrated all over the world, and particularly in the United States.

 

According to estimates by the NRF (National Retail Foundation) and Numerator, based on surveys carried out before St Patrick's Day 2024, American consumers plan to spend USD 7.2 billion.  That's an average of USD 44.40 per person. This amount for St Patrick's Day 2024 represents a 57% increase on spending for St Patrick's Day 2015.

 

Surveys also show that a record 62% of consumers, or 162 million Americans, are planning to celebrate St Patrick's Day. 

 

The top ways to celebrate St Patrick's Day include getting together with family or friends (32%), preparing a special meal at home (29%), throwing a party (12%), decorating the home or office (20%) and going out to a bar or restaurant (27%).
