Slight increase in peaches-nectarines production and net decrease in apricot production according to Europech harvest forecasts.

Europech harvest forecasts unveiled at Medfel salon in Perpignan shows a slight increase in peaches-nectarines production and a decrease in apricots production.

 

 
The total production of peaches-nectarines is estimated about 3,012,487 tonnes, 4% more than in 2012. Slight decrease in planned production in Italy 1,498,600 tonnes (-2%), in Greece 301 200 tonnes (-3%) and in France 256,561 tons (-6%). Only, Spain plans to produce up to 956,126 tonnes or +20% compared to 2012.
 
Apricot production is expected to decline to 498,868 tonnes or -17% compared to 2012 volumes. Italy expects 214 100 tonnes (-15%), France 160 150 tonnes (-13%), Spain 83,118 tons (-13%). The largest decline is expected in Greece with 41 500 tonnes, - 42% compared to last year.
