Chancay Port streamlines Peru–China fruit trade with first blueberry arrival.
Blueberries from Peru’s 2025–26 harvest have officially entered the Chinese market, arriving in Shanghai on June 28. The shipment travelled via the newly launched Chancay Port, marking the first time this route has been used for fresh produce exports to Asia.
The cargo was received at the Huizhan Fruit and Vegetable Market during a formal event attended by trade and diplomatic officials, as reported by Chinese media.
The opening of Chancay Port introduces a shorter maritime path between Peru and China. This shift is expected to reduce transit durations and improve conditions for temperature-sensitive goods.
By enabling faster delivery, the port could support a more reliable supply of blueberries during peak demand periods. Export volumes are projected to increase steadily as infrastructure continues to improve.
For the produce sector, this change reflects broader efforts to streamline logistics and expand direct access to key Asian markets.
