Satisfaction for the region of Almería, the value of marketing of its products has increased.
The marketing value of Almería products establishes a new record.
 

The Ministry of Agriculture reported that the region of Almería has set a new record for the 2012-13 campaign, the marketing value is exceeds EUR 2,380 million, which represents an increase of +13.6% compared to the 2011-12 campaign.

 

The highest increases were registered with cucumbers +28%, zucchini +23% , eggplant +17% and peppers +15%. The best selling products: tomatoes (€ 566 million) and peppers (393 million euros) recorded an increase in production by +3.5%, for tomatoes (962,663 tonnes) +5.6% for peppers (541,870 tonnes). Total production reached 3,139,863 tons, +1.6% compared to the previous season, with the exception of eggplant all products have increased in volume.

 

The increase in production has followed the growth of the cultivated area: 53,075 hectares, an increase of +9% compared to the previous season. The tomato has won 1,234 hectares, the pepper 1,073 hectares, watermelon 735 hectares and zucchini  659 hectares. The cultivation outdoor totals 11,593 hectares while the greenhouse cultivation is still dominant with 41,482 hectares.
