New markets and logistics challenges
Europe remains the main destination for French fruit and vegetable exports, accounting for 80% of the total. It represents 2.23 million tonnes worth €3.38 billion in the past 2025–26 season. In this context Interfel is looking to diversify into new markets like Asia and America.
Mexico’s opening to French apples in 2025 resulted in exports of around 300 tonnes. However, the strongest growth has been seen in Asia. Exports to the region rose by 18% to 32,700 tonnes, with particularly strong increases in India from around 3,600 to 7,600 tonnes – and China – from 1,500 to more than 3,000 tonnes. The Middle East, led by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, is another priority market for the French produce.
