Strong global demand for grapes, avocados, mangoes, and blueberries helped position these regions as key players in Peru’s fresh produce trade.
Between January and April 2025, Peru’s fruit and vegetable exports played a major role in pushing national agroexports above $3.7 billion. According to Midagri, the coastal and jungle regions were the main contributors to this growth, with increases of 25.7% and 50.4% respectively.
On the coast, Ica led with a 47% rise driven by strong shipments of fresh grapes, avocados, and asparagus. Lambayeque grew 35.5% with avocados, blueberries, and frozen mango. Piura’s exports increased by 27%, focused on fresh mangoes, bananas, and frozen mango, while Áncash saw a 4.9% boost from mangoes, blueberries, and avocados. Lima-Callao also performed well with avocado and paprika exports.
In the jungle, regions like Amazonas and San Martín reported significant growth.
The main buyers of Peru’s fruit and vegetable exports were the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, and the UK, among others — together accounting for over 77% of the sector’s export value.
Peru currently ranks first in global exports of grapes and asparagus, and holds top positions for avocados, mangoes, blueberries, mandarins, and garlic.
