Japan remains the largest buyer.
Korea’s kimchi exports are set to reach a historic high this year, driven by strong global interest in traditional Korean food. Customs data shows overseas shipments hit $137.39 million in the first ten months of 2025, a 2% increase compared to the same period last year.
Kimchi imports also rose, climbing 3.1% year-on-year to $159.46 million, reflecting broader international consumption.
At the current growth rate, annual exports are projected to surpass the previous record of $163.57 million achieved in 2024.
Japan remained the largest buyer, raising its kimchi purchases by 4.4% to $47.55 million from January to October. Exports to the United States declined 5.8% to $36.01 million, while shipments to the Netherlands slipped 3.3% to $7.97 million.
