Cilantro and zucchini prices climb in Morelos, Mexico

While cilantro and zucchini have jumped, the general cost of produce hasn’t shifted significantly.
In the final days of April, vendors at Mercado Hermenegildo Galeana in Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico, reported price increases for cilantro and zucchini. Despite this, most fruits and vegetables remain at stable prices.
According to local media, cilantro is now selling at 10 pesos (approx. $0.51 USD), while zucchini (calabaza) has risen to 20 pesos per kilo (approx. $1.02 USD). Tomatoes and red tomatoes (jitomate) range between 18 and 25 pesos per kilo (about $0.92–$1.27 USD). Lettuce prices are between 25 and 30 pesos (roughly $1.27–$1.53 USD).
Other staples like onions are holding at 20 pesos per kilo ($1.02 USD). Apples cost between 30 and 45 pesos ($1.53–$2.29 USD), depending on the type. Oranges are priced at 15 to 25 pesos ($0.77–$1.27 USD), while limes remain among the more expensive items, at 35 to 45 pesos ($1.78–$2.29 USD).
According to vendors, while cilantro and zucchini have jumped, the general cost of produce hasn’t shifted significantly. However, price fluctuations are expected as demand and supply shift in the coming weeks.
