Peru seeking new markets for its exports will look to Asia.
The market for Hass avocados in the United States is saturated according to Peruvian professionals.
To the U.S. market opened very recently, Peru exported 16 528 tons of avocados nearly a third of its exports. But high production in California and Mexico has driven prices down. The Peruvian avocado has seen its price drop by 25% and stays
in 3rd place in sales. U.S. consumers preferring local products from California as well as Mexican avocados.
Europe is the second largest market for Peruvian avocados, but international supply is abundant. For Peruvian exporters promising destinations are Japan and China, where consumption is growing steadily.
