Hanoi pushes smart agriculture with new tech tools
VU
Authorities and cooperatives are deploying digital systems to boost efficiency, traceability, and market access.
Hanoi (Vietnam) is accelerating the integration of digital technologies into its agricultural sector, deploying tools such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, remote sensing, and eGAP systems to improve traceability, production management, and supply chains, according to local media.
One cooperative has installed automated drip irrigation, greenhouse controls, weather stations, and a QR-based tracking system to monitor each plot. A software platform tracks the full production cycle, while packaging follows food safety standards, enabling daily supply to urban markets and boosting revenue.
To expand adoption, Hanoi’s government is implementing a high-tech agriculture development plan through 2030, aiming to digitize safe production, build monitoring networks, and create a comprehensive agricultural database to support circular, smart, and green growth. However, challenges remain: fragmented farms, high investment costs, and uneven policy support constrain broader uptake.
