Europe remains the main destination but Kenya is also providing 60 other markets around the world.
In the first 10 months of 2016, the value of vegetable exports increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2015.
Data from Kenya's National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) show that vegetable sales amounted to 19.6 billion SH compared to 16.7 billion SH the previous year.
This good performance is the result of improved access to the European Union market. Kenya has responded to the measures set by the EU and the volume of its exports has increased from 40 000 tonnes in 2015 to 55 000 tonnes in 2016 (January to October). Vegetables, cut flowers, peas and beans are an important part of Kenya's horticultural exports to the EU.
The European market is essential for Kenya's exports, which has also sought to diversify its outlets. Kenya provides 60 other markets around the world.
