The prices for fruits and vegetables begin to rise
FJ
Agricultural imports from Syria decreased by 80%.
Vegetable prices on the Saudi markets recorded an increase by +20%. Professionals explain these increases by the collapse (-80%) of imports from Syria. To compensate for these deficiencies, the importers must rely on fruits and vegetables from Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and even Europe.
These new imports should stabilize the prices in the coming weeks. However some operators draw attention to the fact that these products could help, on the contrary, to contribute to the rise of prices because of transportation, more distant and therefore more expensive.
