Kissabel: several skin pigments and an intense color inside.
The production of Kissabel®, the red-fleshed apple, is making progress in the countries of the southern hemisphere. Good quality harvest in Australia and Chile, promising results in New Zealand and Argentina.
From February to April, in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile and Argentina, the partners of the Ifored project continue the evaluation phase of the pink to dark red flesh apple cultivars.
Australia is already planning a next marketing season for Kissabel®. Quality considered excellent, pleasant and attractive appearance for all the varieties tested.
In Chile, despite the limited availability of water and the high summer temperatures, a good harvest is expected. Excellent skin pigmentation and intense red interior color.
New Zealand will continue testing for 1 or 2 more seasons. Commercial launch is planned in 5 years. Argentina is also in the testing phase, with promising results. The evaluation phase is also continuing in South Africa, where two of the varieties evaluated are promising and have potential.
