Fruit and vegetable vending machines in schools

By offering cherry tomatoes, fruit salads and dairy products, vending machine providers are encouraging children to have a healthy and balanced diet.
European vending machine leader Selecta, in association with the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), has launched a program called "Fresh + fit ". The first vending machines for fruit and vegetables have been installed in 14 schools in the cantons of Vaud, Bern, Uri, Aargau, Basel, Thurgau and Valais.
The vending machines offer fruit, vegetables, muesli, wholemeal bread sandwiches, dairy products and sugar free sodas. The range has been developed with dietary specialists. After the introduction in schools, Selecta intends to extend the concept to hospitals and offices.
