A good strawberry harvest is expected in Switzerland

In Switzerland, the 2024 strawberry season got off to a slightly early start thanks to good weather conditions in March. 

 

According to estimates by Fruit-Union Switzerland, the 2024 strawberry harvest will be good, at around 7,600 tonnes. Quality is considered to be excellent.

 

The 2024 harvest began about 1 week ahead of schedule, due to exceptionally high temperatures in March. The peak of the harvest, which began on May 20, is expected to last until June 9.

 

In Switzerland, around 491 hectares of strawberries are grown in open fields and tunnels. National production fluctuates between 7,000 and 7,700 tonnes a year.
