Mango sector goes better and better: production and exports are in increase since 10 years.
Since 10 years, mango sector of Burkina realized a real performance from 150 tons of mangoes exported in 1999 to about 3 500 tons this year.
A vast program of support for the sectors (PAFASP) was set up with the support of the World Bank. Planned for six years (2007-2012), he has already allowed an increase of the production and a better organization of the sector.
The obtaining of a certification Global GAP allowed reaching the international market. At the same time, the helps in transformation of fruits, renovations of the fruit terminal and stakes in the standards facilitated the exports.
Mango occupies 58 % of orchards and represents 56 % of the national fruit production. The volume of production is estimated at more than 160 000 tons.
