Murcia is strengthening its position as Spain’s leading artichoke producer, with the 2025-2026 campaign expected to surpass 105,000 tonnes, marking a 5% increase compared with the previous season, according to the association Alcachofa de España.
The region accounts for around 80% of Spain’s artichoke exports, with key production areas including the Guadalentín Valley and Campo de Cartagena.
Industry representatives highlighted the positive performance of the current season during the seventh edition of the “El colmo de los colmos” event in San Pedro del Pinatar, which celebrates the second harvest stage of the crop and promotes consumption.
The campaign runs from October to April, and sector leaders indicated that stable demand and continued investment are helping reinforce artichokes as one of the country’s flagship winter vegetables.
