Can be a serious brake on the generalization of reusable bags that are ecological and sustainable but which are not safe in times of viral pandemic.
Without a thorough and regular wash, these reusable bags can spread viral and bacterial diseases. The risk of spreading viruses has been demonstrated in a 2018 study published in the Journal of Environmental Health.
A previous study found the presence of large numbers of bacteria on almost all of the reusable bags and no contamination in disposable single-use plastic bags.
