Imports of F & V have increased in volume and value

In Spain imports of Fruits & Vegetables increased by 12% in value and by 6% in volume.
A major country for the export of Fruits & Vegetables, Spain also imports large volumes. Between January and April 2019, imports increased in volume and value.
According to data from the Customs Department, processed by FEPEX, between January and April 2019 Spanish imports of F & V reached 1.2 million tonnes (+ 6%) for a value of € 1,100 million (+ 12%) .
Vegetable imports rose 31% in value and 5% in volume. Especially potatoes (+ 5% in volume and + 107% in value) tomatoes (+ 32% in volume and + 25% in value) peppers (+ 15% in volume and + 12% in value).
Fruit imports increased by 4% in value and by 7% in volume. With notably the growth of red fruits such as raspberries (+ 3.5% in value and + 23% in volume) blueberries (+ 39% in value and + 63% in volume).
Over these 4 months analyzed, the growth in the value of imports was + 26% in January, + 12% in February, + 9% in March and + 6% in April.
