Port of Dunkerque handles 300 000 tons of bananas from Guadeloupe and Martinique.
After 12 years of narrow collaboration for the transport of cooled bananas, the port of Dunkerque, the CNTPA-CSOPMI and the UGPBAN wished to strengthen their partnership by the signature of a new Charter.
Bananas from Guadeloupe and Martinique , highly perishable foodstuffs, have to be the object of a quite particular attention, in particular by securing the supply towards platforms of distribution.
"Thanks to this Charter, the signatories enhance reliability and perpetuate the sector in Dunkerque (this fruit represent an annual tonnage of 300 000 tons for the port of Dunkerque), and contribute to maintain a position of 1st French port for treatment of fruits in containers " explain Xavier Eiglier, Manager of the lines “Antilles Guyana CMA-CGM”.
