Latin America remains the main destination, while Europe and Asia gain share.
Chile closed its 2025 apple export season with 570,119 tonnes shipped abroad, representing a 2% increase compared with 556,271 tonnes in the previous year, according to the latest sector report by Decofrut, based on Frutas de Chile / Expordata figures.
Most shipments continued to move by sea. Maritime transport accounted for nearly 80% of exported volumes, while road transport represented around 20%. Air freight remained marginal.
In terms of origin, the Maule region remained the main supplier, contributing 64% of total apple exports. O’Higgins and La Araucanía each accounted for 16.4%. Other producing regions, including Ñuble, recorded a lower share of exports.
By destination, Latin America remained the leading market, absorbing 53.4% of total shipments, equivalent to approximately 304.3 thousand tonnes, though volumes were lower than in the previous season. Europe received 116.4 thousand tonnes, accounting for just over 20% of exports. East Asia followed with around 75 thousand tonnes, while North America and the Middle East each represented around 6–7% of total shipments and recorded year-on-year growth.
The variety breakdown showed Royal Gala and its clones continuing to lead exports, representing about 43% of total volume, slightly below their share in 2024. Cripps Pink/Rosy Glow and Granny Smith increased their participation in exports, while other varieties recorded smaller shares.
Overall, the report shows that Chile’s apple export volume increased modestly in 2025, with shipments distributed across a broad range of international markets, alongside a continued strong presence in Latin America.
