China, an alternative to Europe for dry figs

By the information compiled from Aegean Dried Fruit and Goods Exportations Unions’ nation-wide dry figs exportation statistics, Turkey had a very good season at 2013-2014 term. China has increased its demand for dry figs ten times in these five last years and then has entered in the top five biggest markets of Turkish products.
This is the result of ten years promotion campaign in the Far-East Countries.
In this last season, export income from 71 thousand tons dry figs amounted was made 235 million dollars. China was following France, Germany, Italy and England (who took half of the exports) in these five last years. In this last season (2013-2014) the upsurge demand of dry figs in China, Japan and Malaysia make Turkey’s total exportation broke a high record.
