Italy is the leading kiwifruit producer in Europe.
Italian kiwifruit production is showing clear signs of recovery compared to last year. After a particularly negative campaign in 2017, this year according to the estimates of Alleanza delle Cooperative Agroalimentari, the alliance of agro-food cooperatives, production increases by 18%.
According to Alleanza delle Cooperative Agroalimentari, Italian production could total 435,000 tonnes. Volume remaining 11% below the 2013-2017 average. The increase in production volumes will also be mechanically reflected in export volumes, which will also increase.
The prospects for this campaign are therefore clearly positive. The sector continues to work on opening new markets, such as Japan.
