In Colombia, the Ministry of Foreign Trade announced that exports of agro-industrial products and agricultural products increased by 3.8% in 10 months.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, agribusiness and agricultural exports amounted to USD 12.9 million during the period January-October 2018, 3.8% more than in the same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2018 exports of agro-industrial products rose by 5.9%. Over the period, exports of agricultural products weakened in value but some products achieved remarkable growth rates, such as avocados with + 32.6%
This year 2018 marked also the 5th anniversary of the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Colombia and the European Union. This opening of new markets has allowed the country's exports to increase by about 6.3% per year on average. After 5 years, the European Union became the 2nd destination with a 30% share of Colombian exports, behind the United States (38%).
