Fruit and vegetable supply in Lima exceeds 11,000 tonnes

Fruit and vegetable supply in Lima’s main wholesale markets exceeded 11,000 tonnes on June 5, according to Peru’s Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation.
Official data showed total arrivals of 11,433 tonnes at the Gran Mercado Mayorista de Lima and the Wholesale Fruit Market No. 2 in La Victoria.
At the Gran Mercado Mayorista de Lima, arrivals of vegetables, legumes and tubers reached 9,148 tonnes, up 14.2% compared with the average of the previous four Fridays. Potato supply reached 3,063 tonnes, marking a 19.1% increase.
The Wholesale Fruit Market No. 2 received 2,285 tonnes of fruit. Among the products with lower prices were carrot, tomato, yellow sweet potato, pineapple, orange and grapes.
MIDAGRI said stocks in Lima’s wholesale markets remain high, helping ensure steady supply for traders and consumers.
