The country's exporters explore new routes into one of Asia’s largest consumer markets.
Brazil is working to expand the presence of its fruits in India after a commercial mission supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Pecuaria.
The initiative brought Brazilian fruit exporters closer to importers, retailers and logistics companies in one of the world’s largest consumer markets. The agenda focused on products such as avocado, Tahiti lime and apples, with meetings aimed at identifying new business opportunities and understanding local market needs.
In New Delhi, the Brazilian delegation visited the Azadpur Subzi Mandi wholesale market, as well as traditional markets, fruit shops, organic stores and outlets selling imported products. These visits helped exporters assess demand, distribution channels and consumer preferences in the Indian market.
The mission also included a visit to Suri Agrofresh in Kundli, Haryana. There, the delegation reviewed cold storage facilities and discussed logistics, sanitary requirements and commercial conditions for bringing fresh Brazilian fruit into India.
Brazilian products were also presented during an event at the official residence of the Brazilian Embassy in New Delhi. The meeting gathered authorities, importers and private sector representatives, helping promote Brazil’s fruit sector and its export potential.
After New Delhi, the delegation travelled to Mumbai to take part in Fresh India Show 2026. The group also visited the Port of Mumbai to evaluate logistics conditions for future fruit imports.
The mission comes as Brazilian fresh fruit exports continue to grow. In the first quarter of 2026, export value increased by more than 20%, while export volume rose by 13% compared with the same period last year.
Since 2023, Brazil has opened 34 new export opportunities for its fruit sector.
