Drifts (+ 150%) on monitored food prices

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Russia launched controls on food prices across the country.

Inspectors should examine the pricing policies of retailers and act against unjustified margins. Dozens of shops, supermarkets , independent or belonging to a chain (Auchan, Lenta , X5 Group, Dixy ) are inspected.

In four days officials have found increases of 10% to 150 % for basic foodstuffs such as meat , fish, milk and potatoes.Russian law gives the government the right to impose price controls if the cost of products "socially significant " increases of over 30 % over a period of 30 days.
