The phytosanitary status of any country is the entry passport to many international markets, some of them are more demanding in terms of agri-food regulations.
Mario Puente Raya, the vice president of the National Agricultural Council of Mexico (CNA) commented that the CNA will work with the government in the diversification of markets with countries in America, Europe, and Asia. Above all, they will work to specify the export of Persian sweet lemon and avocado from Jalisco to China. They will also seek to export mangoes, kabocha squash from Jalisco and the State of Mexico to South Korea, and start exporting peppers to Japan.
In the first meeting in 2021 of CNA and the National Service of Health, Safety and Food Quality (Senasica), they emphasized on issues of food safety and plant health, and on the importance of providing an efficient service to agricultural producers, with actions that will have an impact on opening the doors to more and better markets. They highlighted that more than 80 % of national producers are gathered in the CNA, so the recognition of the private body is a good indicator for Senasica.
They are specialists in various disciplines: agronomists, biologists and chemists who work in high class laboratories equipped with advanced technology for the diagnosis and verification of food; the plant that produces sterile flies for pest control, and national reference centers.
Cortina Gallardo, the president of the CNA, stressed that the programs that Agriculture operates through Senasica allow the internal market to operate without stopping and guarantees access to safe and healthy food for Mexicans.
