Kiwis : high production and start of exports

Expected increase this year for Greek production of kiwifruit, not because of a performance gain but because of new orchards that have begun to produce.

The harvest of the main variety (Hayward) started in various parts of the country, and professionals estimate that the additional production is expected to reach 30,000 tons. The bulk of exports is expected to begin on or about November 10.

Despite some problems driven by the rains, crops started well, with yields varying depending of the region. The fruit quality is considered very good.
