Rewe Group has begun its extensive renovation plan that will expand this year to include 600 of the 2400 Penny Markt stores.
Rewe Group has begun its ambitious plan to renovate Penny Markt stores.
Rewe Group has launched the new Penny Markt concept store . The operation, which started in Berlin, will be extended to other cities and this year about 600 of 2,400 stores will go to the new concept. The operation will end in 2014 with the entire network converted.
Dubbed "Dürener Modell", this concept will result in a simplified supermarket at discount prices and features better presentation of products and changes in the assortment of products to own brand.
Rewe Group believes that after this huge investment, Penny Markt stores, which are losing ground in Germany will regain market share.
