Russia wants to help its organic producers become suppliers to the European market.
Russian authorities are working on a bill to support organic agricultural products using a system of subsidies and grants comparable to those prevailing in the EU. The aim is to supply the lucrative European market.
Russia has all the necessary conditions to develop the sector: large amounts of land, abundant energy
for greenhouses, many small businesses and scientists.
The Russian market for organic products is estimated at between $ 60-80 million less than 0.1% of the total. Only 10% are from local agriculture with most originating in Germany.
