Agricultural products of Jordan no longer pass the Syrian border.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced that exports of fruits and vegetables to Syria, by land crossings have completely ceased. Because of the risk of escalation of the situation in the neighboring country.
This cessation of exports to Syria will force Jordanian producers to find new markets or increase their exports to other countries.
JEPA (Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables) clarified that Jordan exports 800,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables per year, of which about 180 000 tonnes in Syria, about 200 000 tonnes in Iraq and 300,000 tonnes to the Emirates UAE. Nearly 40 000 tonnes are exported only to Eastern Europe and Russia.
