Since the agreement between the Turkish National Council of Exporters and the airline company Turkish Airlines reached last May, many fresh products have been delivered cheaply and in a minimal amount of time to various destinations, near or far. Mushrooms, figs and cherries were the most exported fresh products in this way. The countries of destination for which air transport has been most used are Hong Kong, France and Singapore.
According to one of the members of the Governing Council of the Turkish National Council, this type of transport is likely to develop in the coming years, because it allows to have fresh products very quickly with optimal quality.
With 75% off for some destinations, exports of fresh fruits and vegetables transported by air have reached $ 9.6 million over the past 10 months. This season, it is unquestionably the fresh fig which is the flagship product, due to air transport delivering to Asian markets.
