Tunisia plans to export 80,000 tons of stone fruits during this 2021 season

In Tunisia, stone fruit production is estimated to be 7% higher than in 2020 and Tunisian professionals plan to export around 80,000 tonnes mainly to Libya, France and Italy.
During his interview with TAP Agency, Helmi Kalai, the managing director of GIFruits (Interprofessional Fruit Group) indicated that stone fruit production is estimated at around 284,000 tonnes (+ 7% compared to 2020). According to forecasts by Helmi Kalai, the country could export around 80,000 tonnes of stone fruits mainly to Libya, France and Italy.
For this year 2021, the harvest of peaches and nectarines is estimated at around 152,000 tonnes (+ 11% compared to the previous season), the apricot harvest is estimated at 28,000 tonnes (+ 6%) and the harvest of plums at 18,000 tonnes (+ 6%). The cherry harvest is estimated at 7,900 tonnes.
The export season started in April to the Italian, French and Russian markets.
