Apples and pears can regain America's path

After 10 years of suspension the US market is again open to French apples and pears .

The US embargo was put in place following the detection of the " miner circled " , a pest that could damage orchards.

Negotiations were initiated in the summer of 2013 with the US authorities . Including the establishment of sanitary measures (inspection of pre-harvest crops, fruit inspection before export, cold treatment during transport ) . These measures and a favorable audit of the US services led to the signing of a protocol in the summer of 2014."

A first batch of apples has been exported to the United States and several apples and pears shipments must follow" said the Ministry of Agriculture in a statement.
