Less production and therefore a smoother market for this year.
At medFEL, representatives of European apricot production have reported their estimates for the 2018 crop. After last year's large quantities, this year's crop will be smaller.
These representatives estimated that 2018 production will be about 558,000 tonnes. So in sharp decline compared to the exceptional volume of 680 000 tonnes last year.
By country, Italy could record a drop of about 30% of its production, France 14% and Greece 12%. Spain, the only country in contra-trend, could total 143,000 tonnes, up 9% from 2017.
